Link was copied! I have had the honor of serving the Lord through worship for many years. Worship is so entwined with who I am that it comes naturally to me. The Lord has taught me a lot about worship over the years and I am still learning. Worship is not just the music that happens before a pastor’s sermon. Worship itself is so much more than a song. It reflects our heart’s posture towards God. It is not about us, it’s about God. He alone is worthy of all our worship and all our praise. 

You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased. (Revelation 4:11 NLT) God, our Father, the Creator of the Universe, is worthy of worship and praise because of who He is, first and foremost. If God never does a single thing for you, He is worthy of your worship and worthy of your praise because of who He is. 

I will exalt you, my God and King, and praise your name forever and ever. I will praise you every day; yes, I will praise you forever. Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise! No one can measure his greatness. (Psalm 145:1-3) The good news is that because of God’s great love, He has done tremendous things for us. He sent His one and only Son, Jesus, to die on a cross as the payment for our sins, which separated us from God. This sacrificial act of love made a way for us to be reconciled to God and to be made right in His sight.

For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross. (Colossians 1:19-20) God is worthy of your total devotion and that is so much more than just singing songs every Sunday morning. Worship is a way of life. It is choosing to praise God and worship Him because of who He is, regardless of what your circumstances may look like. Worship is recognizing that God can do exceedingly and abundantly greater things than we could ever ask or think. It is choosing to seek Him first, to keep your eyes on Him during the storms of life, and choosing to believe that God is who He says He is and that He will do all that He says He will. 

It’s walking by faith and not by sight and trusting that God will come through for you because He loves you. It’s recognizing that when things don’t work out the way you thought they would, His ways are higher and better than anything you could come up with. Total devotion to the Lord is seeking Him every day, and not just on Sunday mornings. When you live a life of worship, He becomes the air you breathe and the reason you sing. 

Shout joyful praises to God, all the earth! Sing about the glory of his name! Tell the world how glorious he is. Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! Your enemies cringe before your mighty power. Everything on earth will worship you; they will sing your praises, shouting your name in glorious songs.” (Psalm 66:1-4) ~
